It's a boy!

Well, after some problems with a broken ultrasound machine, we finally got to see our baby and found out that we are expecting another boy. The news was a big surprise. We all thought it was a girl and Joslyn was particularly disappointed that she will not be getting a baby sister. When I broke the news to her she cried, but I told her that the baby could still sleep in her room and that made her feel better. Our only problem now is that of a name. We had our girl name all picked out but since we are having a boy we have to come up with something else. So far there has been no agreement on what that name should be. Good thing we have a while to decide.

To sleep, perchance to dream . . .

We also went swimming this week and the kids had so much fun. Phil was throwing Nathan into the air, much to his delight and Joslyn made friends with nearly all the kids in the pool. Caleb was hesitant and clingy when we first got into the water, but he soon loosened up and was having a great time kicking his legs and going after his Dad. We got home and I made some spaghetti. The kids were all ready for bed because they were exhausted, but Caleb didn't even make it all the way through dinner.

Makapuu Point

On Thursday we took the kids to hike up to Makapuu Point on the South side of the island. It is a lookout point for whales as well as a great place to see some beautiful scenery. We did not, unfortunately, see any whales, but the scenery was plentiful and we had a great time. While most of you are starting to feel the cold, our only change is that we get few more showers during the day, and the temperature has fallen a few degrees. In other words, the weather is great. Caleb did such a good job hiking. He walked most of the mile long journey to the top, actually running quite a bit to keep up with the big kids. We carried him down because it was getting dark and we were afraid he would fall, but he was a real trooper. I sprained my ankle on the way down, but not enough to stop me from hoofing it to the bottom on my own two feet. It was a lot of fun. Hiking up What a pose! King of the rock Watching for whales
