Ah, Paris!

We left our beautiful chateau on Thursday morning and headed for Paris. After a quick stop at a bakery for some delicious breakfast pastries (including some chocolate eclairs) we were on our way. Jo and I sat in the front with Dad. We were charged with guiding the van through the city to the house where we were staying. Jo and I plotted a course using our map and we felt pretty good about our game plan. Unfortunately, our map was not that great and after spending two hours attempting to navigate the city (blast those rond points!), Dad was about to come unglued and the rest of us were at our wits end. Dad was ready to pull over and ditch the car when we finally found the road that we had been seeking. Using this street as a starting point, we were able to successfully navigate our way to our house. Whew!
We unloaded all our junk and then Dad, Mom, Laraine and Jo turned the van into the rental company and came back to the house using the trusty subway system. While they were gone, Heather, Sandra, Chase, and I went to the market and picked up some groceries. When the rest of the group came home, we ate some dinner and then hit the streets of Paris for some site seeing. Here is what we saw.

Here we are at the Arc de Triomphe. Despite the chill in the air, it felt amazing to be walking the streets of Paris and seeing fantastic historic sites. Next we took a stroll down the Champs-Elysees. It was incredible. Dad showed us a movie theater where he had gone to see a movie while on his mission (before that kind of thing was against the rules). We also passed some very posh stores. I took a picture of the Louis Vuitton store for Brittney. I knew she would appreciate it.

We walked all the way to the Luxor Obelisk and then caught the train back to our house so we could get some sleep to be ready for our first full day in Paris. So much fun!

Can you believe we were there! That was so much fun! I could have gone without remembering driving through the crazy streets of Paris though.

I was on a friend's blog and she had a list of 100 things to do in life. On it were "visit Paris" and "go to the top of the Eiffel Tower". What a trip it was for me to realize I've done both!
