Here are a few pics that we took right before Phil went underway. We rode our bikes to the end of the Farrington Highway and found a great beach there, so we took some pictures. It was a lot of fun to ride together.
Our second day we traveled from Waco to Lubbock Texas. Texas is one of the biggest states in the US and it took us three days to get across the state. Isaiah was trying to convince us that he should be allowed to ride by trying on dad's helmet. We stopped for a picnic lunch at a park. The kids climbed trees and played around while Phil rested in a hammock. This was a very cool building in the town where we stopped. I thought it was very cool and took a few pictures.
Our third day we got out of Texas and entered New Mexico. Phil and I both grew up in the Western part of the US so entering New Mexico started feeling like home to us. The humidity starts to disappear as we enter the desert and we start to see plateaus and mountains in the distance. We stopped to rest and Isaiah decided to get in on the fun. We stopped for pizza in Albuquerque and it was fantastic. The kids really enjoyed our dinner that night.
Before he left for Afghanistan, Phil set up the hammock for me on the back porch. It was actually part of my Mother's Day gift, along with an electronic reader. He thought that it would be an enjoyable spot for me to be able to read and unwind. He was right, it is fabulous. Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so . . .
