Here it is. Yet another post about my growing little Chase. He is getting so big! He is trying to sit up and I tried to give him cereal the other day, but he just spit it back at me, so I guess we're not ready for that yet. Still, he is so sweet and fun and we really love having him in our family.

Destructo Boy and the tale of the Raspberry Lemonade

Image
Destructo Boy had finally escaped the confines of the his alter ego Caleb Connor. He had spent the last several weeks laying low in order to lull them into a false sense of security, and now was the time to strike. He surveyed the kitchen looking for the perfect weapon with which to enact his revenge. His nemesis, the Mom Lady, was upstairs occupied by the Little Squishy Thing and the Dad Man. No one would notice his return until it was too late. He surveyed the counters, then suddenly, he saw it. The Mom Lady had been careless and had left the powder to make the raspberry lemonade too close to the edge of the counter. He reached up and grabbed it. SUCCESS! The lid was on, but not tight. Destructo Boy laughed at the ease with which he was able to open the container. He dipped in a finger and brought it to his lips, YUMMY! He looked around and plotted how best to spread the powder over the largest square footage possible. Hmmm, lets see, some in the kitchen, some on the sta

Somewhere over the rainbow

They don't call Hawaii the rainbow state for nothing. We see rainbows all the time, but this one happened to be right behind our house and was so bright and beautiful I just had to snap a picture.

LUKE . . . I am your brother

One of the joys that you receive as a mother is seeing your children play well together. Nathan is five years older than Caleb, but as they are both boys, they have many things in common and Caleb tends to like the things that Nathan likes because he sees him playing with them and wants to do it too. A couple of weeks ago, Nathan put on his old Halloween costume and was playing outside with his red light sabre. Caleb saw what he was doing and ran upstairs to get the blue one so that he could play too. What followed was a very lively light sabre battle out on the back porch. The force is strong with you, but you are not a Jedi yet. Give yourself to the dark side! I am your brother. No!

4th of July

We had a great fourth of July this year. Steve and Cathy are here with us and we decided to take a trip to see the Memorials. In the morning we headed down to Pearl Harbor and went to the Arizona Memorial. It was very cool and really touched me to see first hand the sacrifices of all those brave men who died and are still entombed in their ship. After that Phil took us to a spot on Ford Island where you can see holes made in the concrete by the machine guns on the Japanese planes. We sat and had a picnic and then went to the Utah Memorial. I think that these two ships really affected me because my husband is in the Navy and I have had to consider what I would do if he died at sea. Very sad stuff. After we had visited all the memorials, we went to the Pearl Harbor Base and hung out at the big block party. They had all kinds of games and bounce houses as well as a live band and treats galore. The kids got to go play on the bounce houses and then played frisbee and football with
